Day 30: Nail Polish Ring : DIY - Black heart sky

Hi all! How are all you polish lovers out there? Today's blog is about a DIY craft I found on a wonderful YouTube channel I follow called Glossandsparkle. She has a great video on DIY nail polish rings, which inspired me to make some of my own. So while on vacation, I shopped a lot, and bought the items needed to make fabulous polish rings.

Items I USED:

E6000 glue

Large gem like stones ( found in floral section of Hobby Lobby) 

Ring bases (to attach stone on)

Nail polish (any kind you like)

Clear nail polish (topcoat works too) 

MY TECHNIQUE:

1. Applied a clear heart glitter polish first (on flat back side if stone)

LET DRY COMPLETELY

2. Applied black nail polish - 2 Coats

LET DRY COMPLETELY 

3. Applied clear nail polish

LET DRY COMPLETELY (let mine dry 3-6 hours)

4. Dabbed E6000 glue on ring base

5. Attached stone ( the same flat side you put polish one) to gluey ring base

6. CENTER STONE ( so it sirs nicely balanced on ring base)

7. Lie ring face down on unpolished side

8. LET DRY OVERNIGHT

9. Try ring on (adjust ring band size as needed)

10. VOILA, a beautiful NAIL POLISH RING

 Customize with any COLOR, Brand and style of nail polish you prefer

First layer: glitter heart polish, applied using a dabbing technique to get more hearts on. Swiping it like you would if you were painting your nails, does not work well on polishes that have large glitters in them.

OTHER IDEAS: 

• Layer with glitter polish first, then opaque polish (like I did mine)
• Use 1 or more polishes
• Create designs like nail art 
• Use tape to make straight lines
• Cut out magazine pictures and size it to make one of a kind rings (Glossandsparkle has a great video on this)

And whatever else your little heart desires.

REMEMBER: if you mess up, don't like the design or simply want to try something new, dip stone in nail polish remover, wash to remove the remover, let dry and START OVER.

Day 12: Steel Gray - Nail Design

Hello again. Today i wanted to showcase my lovely steel gray nails. They did not start out this way but with the help of Revlon Matte Top Coat, steel gray came into existence.

Technique:

1. Base coat with Strong Adhesion Base Coat in China Glaze
2. Applied Revlon Top Speed in: 710 Cloud- 2 coats
3. Applied Revlon Matte Top Coat 790

I wasn't sure what to expect with Matte top coat because its my first time using it. I must say though, I am pleasantly surprised and very pleased with the effect.No shine is very calming to me for some reason. But perhaps its also because I used matte with a gray polish. I shall see how "calming" Matte top coat is when i apply it on something like hot pink polish. :) :)

1. Started with 3 black dots right down the middle using dotting tool i ordered from ebay

2. Used white polish, applied 1 dot on either side of black.

3. LET black dots DRY completely, to avoid streaking, before adding the white dots. 

Base Coat, Revlon 710 cloud, Revlon Matte Top Coat

So far my nails have lasted 3 days with no chipping at all! I am noticing the matte effect wearing off on one of my hands, the more dominant one. Will just reapply some more and voila!

To dry my nails I use finishing spray and a blow dryer on cool setting. It takes awhile and I realized I need something faster. So today i just ordered Seche Vite top coat and OPI fast dry drops. Can't wait till they get here! Will keep you all posted once i review them. Until then:

Day 11: Nail Swatches Round 2 - Sinful Colors, Revlon Top Speed

hI AGAIN everyone! Wanted to share with you some more nail swatches featuring some beautiful colors. The picture is on the bright side. #1 has a light tinge of purple to it and #5 has more purple to it
